Cardiac Surgery Patronage This initiative allows children with heart defects from disadvantaged countries to have surgery in France when it is impossible in their home countries due to a lack of resources. Each year, 30 ambassadors for the association (athletes, artists, journalists, and television presenters) participate in the "Etape du Cœur" (Stage of the Heart), a portion of an official stage of the Tour de France completed before the professional cyclists pass through. Since 2003, 403 children have been saved by the Tour de France and its partners.
One in 100 children is born with a heart defect requiring surgery. For many of them, this operation remains unfortunately inaccessible due to a lack of technical or financial resources in their country. It is to help these children that Professor Francine Leca created Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque (Cardiac Surgery Sponsorship).
Thanks to this incredible chain of solidarity, more than 5500 children have already been cared for and saved, before returning to their country of origin with a repaired heart and a new life.
From Magny-Cours to Magny-Cœur!
For the second edition of the 12-hour cycling event, Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, the Nevers Magny-Cours International Circuit, and the French Run are joining forces around a common project: to save as many children with heart conditions as possible by symbolically transforming the Magny-Cours Circuit into Magny-Cœur!
A collaborative effort where each participant is invited to give it your all and take overbefore or during the race, to transform this sporting event into a true chain of solidarity.
For 12 hours, hundreds of cyclists will take turns on the legendary track of the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours.
But this year, an additional challenge has been added to the race.
A challenge that goes far beyond sporting performance and competition: saving the lives of as many children with heart conditions as possible during the 12-hour bike race.
Everyone can take over to transform this sporting event into a true surge of solidarity, so that at the end of these 12 hours, the circuit will no longer be just Magny-Cours, but Magny-Heart!
