The Turk scored a 10th victory in a row at Most, and is now 64 points ahead of his rivals in the fight for the title.
Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) completed a hat-trick at the Czech Republic Round in Most, the sixth stop of the 2024 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season.
With 10 straight victories, Razgatlioglu established the second longest streak in the history of the Championship. The Turk led all of the weekend's sessions and won all three races handily. He becomes the first rider to lead every session and every race since Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) did so at Buriram in 2019. He also signs a third hat-trick in a row. In the Superpole Race, Razgatlioglu was initially left behind by Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) and his teammate Alvaro Bautista, but it only took him a few laps to regain the lead and, from there, he was able to widen the gap on the two Ducati representatives. The scenario was the same in Race 2, as the No. 11 Ducati took the advantage from the start and kept it until the fifth lap.
Razgatlioglu took the lead for the second half of the race, before moving more than three seconds ahead of his rivals. “I can't believe it, but we now have 10 wins in a row,” he said. On this circuit, we are very strong. I'm really happy because in the Championship, we have a good lead. I don't think about that, I'm just focused on tackling the races one after the other because I need a lot of victories. I need two more wins for the record. That's my goal, to get two more wins to break the record. We will see in Portimao. I'm very strong there, but I'm just happy with this weekend. We didn't make any mistakes and three wins is really down to teamwork. »
Bulega having finished second, #54 extended his lead over his rival to 64 points, one Round ahead. He is now more than 100 lengths ahead of Bautista, third. He is also the first driver to cross the 300 points barrier in 2024. Although he did not want to comment on the title fight, Razgatlioglu assessed his rivals' weekend. “For Alvaro, I think it wasn't a good weekend, but for Nicolo it wasn't bad,” he said. In the first race he lost a little ground, but in the Superpole Race and Race 2 he came back. For him everything is fine, but for Alvaro I think this particular weekend is not good. We still have a lot of racing to do, and he will come back stronger. »
Will Razgatlioglu maintain his lead until #FrenchWorldSBK?
