The eighth Round of the WorldSBK season will take place in France, at Nevers Magny-Cours, and the action is sure to be there...
After a superb round in Portugal, the MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship paddock heads to France and the historic Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours for the eighth round of the season. The Motul French Round is a must-see for fans, with plenty of suspense and action in store… we present 10 reasons why you should go this year – get your tickets HERE.
THE ACTION ON THE TRACK: As fierce as ever
Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) is certainly on a record winning streak, but he has had to work hard to achieve them. Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team), Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) and teammate Nicolo Bulega all battled for victory at Portimao.
HISTORY IS WRITTEN BEFORE YOUR EYES: Razgatlioglu’s series continues
Razgatlioglu made it 13 wins in a row in his last outing at Portimao, a historic run in WorldSBK. The competition will be tough in France, but Nevers Magny-Cours is a circuit that he loves and on which he has a superb track record. This is where he won his first victories, but it will also be his first experience with BMW.
SHOCKS AND SURPRISES: A surprise in store?
In recent years, the French Round has held several surprises. Who could forget Garrett Gerloff (Bonovo Action BMW) who took a superb pole last year, or Jonathan Rea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha) and Bautista who came to blows in 2022? And, as we mentioned, when Razgatlioglu won from 16th on the grid… twice! What will be the upheavals in 2024?
FIGHT FOR THE WORLDSSP TITLE: Only 20 points difference
After Adrian Huertas' (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team) six consecutive victories, it looked like he was starting to get his hands on the title. Everything changed at Portimao with his crash in Race 2 and, while he finished 12th limiting the damage, Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) scored the double to reduce the gap to just 20 points…
THE PADDOCK SHOW: Celebrations galore!
The Paddock Show is held in the heart of the WorldSBK paddock and allows fans to get closer to the jubilation of victory with podium celebrations, with the chance that a rider might rush onto the stage and spray you with Prosecco...
10 POINTS GAP: The battle between the WorldSSP300 Champions heats up…
Inigo Iglesias (Fusport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki) was the star of the WorldSSP300 in 2024, but Portimao was a big turning point. Loris Veneman (MTM Kawasaki) took the Championship lead thanks to his double podium, while Iglesias scored no points. 10 points separate the top two, with Aldi Mahendra (Team BrCorse) in third position, just one point behind Iglesias.
THE TOWN OF NEVERS: A peaceful place, but full of history
Magny-Cours is located a few hours south of Paris, but there are also things to do in the neighboring town of Nevers. You can admire the architecture of past centuries as well as the French landscape. Nevers is a picturesque little town that you can enjoy off the piste.
OFF-TRACK ENTERTAINMENT: Lots to do at the Paddock Show
As well as hosting the podium celebrations, the Paddock Show gives you the opportunity to take part in interactive activities or be close to the stage for meet and greet sessions with WorldSBK, WorldSSP and WorldSSP300 riders.
THE WEATHER CAN PLAY: All seasons!
With a date set for September, the risk of rain is less, but it still exists. As they say in motorsports, rain is the great leveler, so if it rains, be prepared for a surprise or two on the track; even if the weather remains dry, there is also a possibility of surprise.
EXCEEDINGS: Guaranteed action…
Nevers Magny-Cours offers plenty of overtaking opportunities, from the Adelaide hairpin to the Nürburgring and Imola chicanes, including turn 9 of the 180 degrees. Turn 1 can be used with a good exit from the final chicane. Also expect overtaking at the Châteaux d'Eau and the Lycée hairpin.
